EDBANGER's Public Bio |

Right then, i'm gonna actually take the time to write a little bit about my biking history. It all started a long time ago in a land far, far away. Me and my delinqunit buddies aquired ourselves a dirt bike & proceeded to terrorize the neighbourghood by riding it around the school fields, up & down roads with no helmet, all the fun things you get up to when you know no better. From that moment on I knew I was a biker.
Since moving from that far away land biking took a back seat due to financial reasons. I did my CBT (in the snow) & never actually got the money to buy a bike, despite buying a jacket and helmet. I thought that maybe I was never destined to own a road legal bike. But then, one bored and reckless day at work I came up with a plan!! Finance me up baby yeahhhhhhhh. So a few phone calls later and i'd booked another CBT & bought myself a Yamaha DT125. Loving it!!! Or at least I was for 2 months until some git stole it from the middle of Birmingham City Centre, in the middle of the day on a Tuesday. As gutted as I was the insurance company paid out quickly so I decided to take the plunge and do my DAS.
Before passing I bought myself my first big bike, my Bandit 400!! I was so chuffed with that thing it was magical. Little did I realise at the time I would grow to hate its guts after countless times of it not starting, running like a turd & attempted bump starts. I was glad to see the back of it!! (I must apologise to the poor sod that bought it).
Experience under my belt I knew I wanted something bigger, something faster, something sexier.........so I went and blew my wod on a cosmetically damaged Thunderace. Man that thing was fast, I loved it sooooooo much despite the cracked plastics. The engine was sweet & it never let me down. Unfortunately, there was a catch, the insurance people were bending me over for it, I borrowed a little bit of money to buy it and I was digging myself a financial grave. It had to go, I was fed up of struggling for money all the time. It was time to grow up.
I got quite a bit of interest for it, but eventually sold it to a guy for ?250 less than I paid for it but he also threw in a ZZR600 aswell. Bargain I thought..................I was wrong. It needed a bit of work, I knew that at the time but thought I'd give it ago. That bike hated me like I hated the Bandit.......nothing went right, and despite it's lack of T & T I was still using it for work (naughty I know but public transport??????). Eventually I discovered the alternator didn't work on it, it needed a new gear box (no second gear) & it was possibly the most hiddeous looking bike in the world (gold and black with kinda Leapard spot type things on the bottom half!!!). Again it had to go. I sold it for ?350 to someone with the patience to do the work.
That brings us to now. Because I decided to grow up I used the money from the bikes to pay off debts. Something I now regret as I have no bike & havn't done for longer than I'd care to try and remember. Mark my words though, I will get another, & it shall be great!!!! Oh yes, it shall be great.
Update - Well after a bit of good fortune and my old job giving me money they wern't supposed to, i've got myself a Thundercat!!! Woooo hooooo back on the road baby.
