Looking for someone to help in selecting carb for a custom project. Motor is a Suzuki 1400cc v2. Motor is stock but carbs, intakes and exhaust will be completely replaced with custom parts. Have calculated CFM on this bike to be around 136. Will run two carbs. Due to the design of the bike the carbs need to have small external dimensions. Like the look of the Dellorto SSI but have no experience with these.

I can give more specifics if anyone is interested in giving advice on this. New to the forum and not sure what expertise is here. My regular forum has given some help but I'm still searching.

Thanks!

Being that it is a 1400cc V twin, Might you be from the US perchance? Smile

I'm not sure that we know enough about cruiser engines to help you too much, but If someone on here knows they will soon post.

Welcome to the forum and I do hope we can help! Thumbs Up

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Not what you sound like your looking for, but have you considered using a car carb, a weber twin choke most likely, and just hiding it up under the fuel tank a bit?

I would say that two large bore flat slide mikuni's would be a good bet, as they are compact in terms of being short, but i guess you need the carbs to be the right size in height terms so that they fit under the tank. Would it be an option to run 1 larger carb, intead of the twins if space is tight? I would think a single large flatslide on a custom made manifold, might be a better idea, but i guess you will need to get some dimensions for various carbs and see how they compare, and if they will fit in the space available. If it were me i would still prefer the large sigle carb route over twins tho.

You are right,, the Mikuni TM 40 flat side is probably ideal to feed the engine,,, and they are fairly small. I keep going back to the SSI,,, I guess I just like the way it looks. Probably not a good reason but that's where I'm at for now. May end up with the flat slide before it is over.
