Simple as really. The front brakes work fine but you do feel a knocking under braking. I've got the MOT in a couple of months but should I be worried?

Cheers,
Adam

I would say most probably yes it will fail. My car failed for having scored brake discs when the pads were really worn down. Warped disc is far worse if you ask me.

Warped disk will fail. If the disc is warked you'll fell the lever pulse when breaking. If its making a knocking noise it could be the bearings.

this can translate into a premature lock of the wheel under heavy braking Sad you don't want to loose that front wheel in the wet.

the knocking could be the caliper hitting the end of it's free travel in the side ways limit(thats if it's not bolted rigid) of coarse

Yeah if anything I'd replace it as a matter of safety rather than wondering if it will pass the MOT.

Hi

A warped disk should fail the MOT (if badly warped), but it is one of those things they might not notice.

All the best

Cheers for the info people.
I rarely use the front brake anyway but always keep it covered by my hand through traffic. I use engine braking mostly and the rear brake for the light stuff. It does pulse under braking and has been happening since a Croydon Council van disliked me so it must be a dodgy disk. No idea which one though as it looks fine. I'll see if I can take it apart this weekend to have a better look.

What type of disk doesn't corrode/rust? I think cast is the type I don't want isn't it?
