Get the hang of letting the clutch out until it 'bites'. Start with doing this with no throttle. Feel the bike pulling forward. You should be able to let the bike ride forward with no throttle or brakes. Now, start again with the clutch fully in, get the revs up a little. If you have a tach, settle at around 2000/2500 and slowly let the clutch out till it reaches that 'bite' point again. Now let the clutch out a little more and get the bike moving. Once you are moving you can slowly let the clutch out little by little.
Practice is all you need. When I did my CBT I stalled about 9 or 10 times during the training and once on the road (hill start on traffic lights! - still, the SR-125 has an electric starter, so just put on the rear brake, pulled in the clutch and started much to the annoyance of the other drivers )
The more time you spend playing with launching at low revs on the clutch the easier and smoother you get... Bet the first thing I do when I finally get my hands back on a bike this week - is stall on the launch |

Yeah you will be fine riding to the MoT as long as it is booked in.
One thing though, if the bike is in a real state and there is no chance that it will pass, then I can't see you getting away with it. Make sure that you check that the bike is relatively road safe and that it is clean etc. Good luck! ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm.
