After getting naff all done over winter, work on the ZX4 kart project is slowly re-starting. The latest installment is here, and in case you haven't seen the previous sets in this epic saga of amateur engineering, they are: ____________________ 3516 Miles, 11 Countries |

Well, we welded up the rear section last weekend, now it needs the rear axle re-fitting and then we can add the front end. The seat is mounted so once the front stub axles are welded into place the next job will be mounting the steering column and pedals. Once all the chassis bits are completed it's being painted, and the engine is going back in. Then we need to build the drive sprocket assembly (which we can't do yet, 'cos we need a ZX4 gearbox output shaft to make it from - and it's proving difficult to find), plug in the electrics and mount instruments, bend and weld up the exhaust pipe and it should be ready to go.
Course it won't be that simple It never is
The first time it's driven will probably be down the alley way at the back of my house, and if it doesn't blow up or catch fire we'll take it down to a private car park and try it properly. Once it's running ok we can take it down to Brooklands airfield and give it a proper thrashing ____________________ 3516 Miles, 11 Countries |
