The word "triangle" isn't a triangle, it's a collection of letters. You nut. Laughing

And the source-triangle is a multisected triangle, so doesn't count. Razz

There are no triangles. The triangles are a lie.

It's one of those puzzles where it comes easy to some people than others until it gets pointed out to how it's done then you see how easy it is Wink

But the question asks for triangles, it makes no mention of multisected triangles, so 64 is wrong.

Multisected whatever... If it is made up of three straight lines which all join up and have a total of 180 degrees in the middle, it's a triangle. Simple as

No, it's not "simple as". If I show you a picture of a triangle, with nothing in it, it's a triangle. If I show you one full of terminating lines, it's a multisected triangle.

If I put them side by side and ask you to point out the multisected triangle, you'd be able to make the distinction, yes? "Don't point out the triangle, point out the multisected triangle."

A multisected triangle is a geometric form that has the properties of a triangle PLUS it's multisected. It is therefore not a triangle, it is a multisected triangle.

The puzzle requires an answer to a question that potentially contains insufficient data by which to be fully understood, unless one simply assumes that multisected triangles are to be regarded as triangles (an assumption for which there is no logical basis). Or one takes the question at face value and discounts all multisected triangles, which is the correct way in which to proceed.
