Is this at all possible?
I think it would be an interesting project to put a CR250 etc onto the road but can this really be done? It would probably be easy enough to get your lights speedo tyres and that stuff on but how would I go about insuring the thing? And then there's baffles for the exhaust to get it through the MOT. ____________________ Northern Irish? www.nibikers.com |

Lots of people put them on the road. The main thing is getting them legal, this includes a lighting kit, number plate, etc, also you will need to have a horn set up too, you can no longer use the old pushbike horns, it needs to be a horn which gives out a constant sound. The exhaust shouldn't be a problem, I hear that they're changing the laws regarding MOT's and exhausts, so long as it's stamped up as legal it can be as loud as it wants to be, it's the MOT testers discretion. Obviously some testers will be more 'lenient' than others, or maybe some are a little hard of hearing, get my drift?
There are companies who do actually sell complete road kits for motocross bikes.
Practicality wise it's probably not a good idea if you're doing much over 2000 miles a year, the rebuilds would be too much hassle. Get a 4 stroke and moto it ____________________ A big enough hammer fixes anything! |

I would have it more as a toy and for something to do. As for MOT and getting it on the road I have a few contacts in the right places in that department but how would you insure such a thing? ____________________ Northern Irish? www.nibikers.com |
