doing it as pdf only makes sense if we're basically writing a magazine which people may want to print.

doing it as a website would make sense if we're looking at a dynamic creation, changing a lot, evolving and bringing in new users.

and doing it as an email newsletter makes sense if it falls into the magazine style of thinking but is more simplistic than the pdf idea.

I would say step one is to work out exactly who this thing is aimed at - is it a small thing between board users, or is it aiming to get more people in? If it's just local, then the newsletter would be fine, if it's to build the userbase up then a website make more sense cos you don't have to subscribe first to get in on the action.

God, I sound like I'm at work! oh, i am Confused

I would have thought it would be best to start with a newsletter, possibly archiving the newsletters on a website. Then once we've got people interested in contributing etc we can start a 'proper' website.

Yeah, I reckon that a few "technical bods" should be delegated to start discussing about the functionality and features of the site...in the meantime, ppl should start (to think about) writing some articles/reviews/rants etc...

Obviously, everyone should make suggestions on what they want from the site/newsletter, but it will ultimately be up to the technical peeps to draw out some designs for assessment...

How about it?

I think Andrew's sorting out a Usergroup... so it's probably best if we take it from there.

We'll need to consider if we want to write our own stuff (asp, php etc), or use ready made site-builds.

No I'm not dead, just haven't been around for a while...

Sounds like a good plan being developed, instead of a usergroup why not use this forum so everybody can get in on it - I'm going to move this thread in there now.

Thats what the bike mags do anyway.

You regularly notice them plugging the place that lent them the test bike - and usually the test bike has the name of the dealer scribbled across it
