Is there an actual slit there, so is it an actual gap in the tread?
If it is, I wouldn't trust it. As I recall they are dual compound bias belt tyres and it might be the two compounds have failed to join properly. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

At a guess, it looks like a manufacturing defect. It's roughly equidistant all the way around, from the centre part from the tread. While at a glance it may look randomly squiggly, upon closer inspection it bulges out then turns back at the same place wherever a tread lines repeats, i.e. the squiggles appear to have some regularity.
In France they ride on the right-hand side of the road. Therefore, when you're riding in a straight line, there is a camber in the road angling down to your right. That tyre having been constructed for the French market probably is made of 2 compounds, to compensate for the increased wear just offset from the centre of the tyre's tread, i.e. where your squiggly line is.
That particular tyre is a well-proven tyre from a good manufacturer, and is not known for splitting along a seam. The original (old style) Avon Roadriders sometimes used to split. To the best of my knowledge, Avon corrected that defect years ago.
What is the date of manufacture on that tyre? It would be interesting to see what Bridgestone have to say about it. |

I've recently got a Bridgestone BT45F front tyre,
and 1500km later I noticed what looks like a a strange continuous cut or seam all around the tyre, about 3/2 across. I'm not sure what to make of this; if this is a material failure, and if this is a safety issue at all... ?
I attached some images...
Any thoughts? |
