Yesterday after work, I went for a short run, that turned into almost 200 km ride in the north-west Slovakia (the Žilina region). I got back home at night, at roughly 11pm. I had my digital camera with me, so I made a few stops here and there. Furthermore, I also got a bit lost, as is customary for such unplanned trips. I navigate purely by the road sings and landmarks, so sometimes backtracking does occur. This time my landmark was the Vah river. Anyway, narrow mountain roads full of sharp bends, hairpins and lovely vistas... perfect for my 495cc single cylinder machine. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Today, I got lost in Slovakia, again. The initial plan was to ride along the Czech-Slovak border from north to south, in the direction of Bratislava (the capital city of Slovakia), then cross the border back home to the Czech Republic and ride up north to my home town. Well, I missed my turn and found a very lovely place instead. Checking the map, the locals call this place the "Sulovske skaly" (Sulovske rocks?). Smooth roads, lovely vistas,... 210 km. Combined with the Friday ride, 400 km in total this week. Also, the XBR has got a huge tank and great mpg! ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Yesterday I took the Kawasaki on a short trip to a bike auction viewing day at Shuttleworth House near Biggleswade. Interesting group of bikes ranging from rust-bucket Ariels to a Panigale.

I don’t understand the “barn find” thing though, for example the Aprilia RSV 1000R Factory was still plastered with bird shit. If you want to sell it why wouldn’t you make it presentable? |

After handing over 1500 quid to Bristol Council this afternoon I was in a fucking foul mood so after a couple of pints,
fairly unwisely I went out on the bike for a blat. This was compounded by the fact that I decided it was time to give A
mode a go for the first time. Anyway, didn't die, rode like the knob I am for a couple of hours with my front wheel off
the ground for some of it and stopping at my mates pub for a couple more pints of Korev then again at my local
Co op for a couple more pint bottles to chuff down once home. It seems I am in self destruct mode but like in every
thing else I attempt, I failed miserably. Oh well better luck next time. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

Today, after way too long a hiatus, I got back in the saddle.
MOT is due next week so I had to give the bike a bit of a once over.
After a general clean up and a thorough chain clean and lube, I set off.
I thought I'd just go for around 10 to 15 miles to make sure all was well. 97miles later, I got back home.
To be honest, I got a bit lost in the area between Cambridge and Huntingdon, not the worst area to get lost in. Some really nice little picturesque villages but by this time my old knees were starting to tell me to head for home.
I shouldn't have left it so long. |

Mini pub crawl with a pair of KTM450SMR's and an MT07.Things got a bit mental. Didn't die. Only pics I can show is
this with us all at the lights together (before I smoked all of them ) I'm second shadow in from left, this light
change was always going to be a race after the few hours beforehand and then a bit of tag playing with a couple
of manbag wearing supermoto bois. 2nd still taken on Fowlers roundabout. Had a laugh. Met new people. Win win.

After giving the engine a service last week, I took the Triumph out today for a 'little' ride... which turned into a 260 mile jolly to the Lake District...
Weather was bloody lovely, not too much traffic on the roads, and with a working motorbike - just an absolute joy, certainly cleared some cobwebs |

an evening ride is a great way to cool down in the current heat.

Mini pub crawl #2 with '22 KTM 450 SMR and '19 MT07 from last week. More lunacy of course. Saw a nasty smash where a
BMW (the 4 wheeled variety) 180'd into a wall on a sharp bend. We were able to sneak through the debris field and continue
our journey. Stayed out until the sun went down which was an issue for me and my black visor and my mate on the KTM
and it's complete lack of any lights whatsoever. Bloody hard following that bike at pace when it has no brake light,
at a whisker over 100kg with a huge Brembo setup up front it stops fast too. You suddenly find yourself gaining on it.
Lots of fun and a few cold drinks. Catching the last of the nice weather. No idea where that streak of whatever it
is on the tarmac came from but it wasn't any of us. Yesterday was the 8th day on the trot I've been out on the bike.
We met up at the Druids Arms In Stanton Drew rode out to The New Inn in Blagdon and then finished up at The Compton Inn in Compton Dando.

Went on a bit of a solo jaunt yesterday evening, started out at the Druids Arms in Stanton Drew again. Where I
was accosted by a somewhat tipsy middle aged woman who complimented my bike and then went on to
tell me she worked for Ducati for a few years. I didn't mind as it meant there was someone to keep an eye on my lid
when I went for a slash, she was a funny old stick. From there to the Old Lock and Weir in Hanham, a pub I've been to
100's of times in the past, there I bumped into Lauren, one of the old regular bar girls that used to work there when
I was a more frequent visitor, caught up over a bowl of chips on the last 4 years since I spoke to her last also got
plenty of chance to fuss the owners dog who I used to walk regularly. Nice to see them both.

https://i.imgur.com/aNp0l3r.jpg
While there I noticed a post pop up on Instagram, it was a friend of mine who lives in Bradford who had come down
to Bristol for a gig so I messaged him on there and met him in town at a pub called The Cornubia for a quick catch up
before the gig started was only there maybe half an hour but it was great seeing my mate. He's back in October
for a proper night on the lash so we'll have a proper one then, didn't get any pics there. After that I headed toward
home with one last stop at the Lost and Grounded brewery in Whitby Road that has a taproom open on Fridays and
Saturdays for one last jar. Ended up sat on one end of a large picnic bench thing with a few friendly strangers and
passed the time with them with some idle chit chat while I had my pint. They ordered food which smelt delicious
and got me feeling peckish again.
https://i.imgur.com/GjKVZPv.jpg
So I finished my pint and headed home the last half a mile, put the bike away and ever the traditionalist decided
I fancied fish and chips. Popped out in the car to my local chippy where I ordered what turned out to be a Moby
dick sized lump of cod and a wheelbarrow full of chips and went home and scoffed the lot. It was bloody delicious too.
With my belly uncomfortably full called it a day and had an early night. An unexpectedly social evening though. Glad I went out. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha
