I'm hoping some of you might have a little experience in the watch department and can help me please.
I'd like to buy a watch/bracelet that vibrates me awake (I'm partially deaf), I don't want to spend a fortune as I'm not into brands and more likely to just wear it at night.
But I'd also ideally like it to connect to my phone, so when I'm on 24hr support I'll get woken up instead of having to rely on my wife waking me up when my phone goes.
Now here's the catch, I have rather large wrists! No amount of different ways of Googling stops all the Chinese smart watches coming up first - none of which fit me. I need a strap to fit at least 23cm, the majority are max. 22cm.
Has anyone come across a watch that meets my needs? ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.
(7 year gap), BMW F650 (Relaxing ride). Aprilia Caponord ETV1000 (Big and bold). Yamaha FZS600 (got me in trouble too quick!).
Current: Yamaha TDM 900 (Comfy, light but big, power when needed). |

Yeah, unfortunately a lot are integrated. There's a couple I could use for alarm watches only:

https://www.pivotell.co.uk/Vibralite+8+Vibrating+Watch/0_CAAA002/PRAA018.htm
Then for android phone connection something like this, but I'm wary of less well known brands and bluetooth connectivity issues they always seem to come with:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Activity-Trackers-Temperature-Pressure-Waterproof/dp/B08PNWDHP3/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=12DWYY30BPQYF&keywords=%22vibrating%22%2Bsmartwatch&qid=1673277683&sprefix=vibrating%2Bsmartwatch%2Caps%2C66&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1
I have seen this in Argos, a better brand - size is medium but then strap length is long.
But then I've also just found out it isn't compatible with my Pixel 6 :

A second hand Pebble would be a viable solution. Although they're no longer supported, there's a Rebble app run by enthusiasts.

Fossil Hybrid. Basic monitoring functions. Proper hands with an ink screen. Alarm, vibration, light etc. Easy as fuck to get replacement straps for as they are standard 22mm width. Battery last weeks and recharges in an hour. I love mine and while I really pefer mechanical watches this is the next best thing as I have to track my heart rate.
Wildly varying prices if you shop around but linked is the Fossil website.

They didn't actually make these when I bought mine or I wouls have seriously considered one...

I've had a similar challenge with finding a watch with a larger strap for my big wrists. Check out some fitness tracker bands – they often offer custom sizes and vibration alarms. Some even connect to your phone for those early wake-up calls. But if you prefer classic watches, see what you can get for it here (newbondstreetpawnbrokers.com). I hope you find the perfect fit! |
