I seem to have finally managed to train my ex to empty his ashtray and leave it on my outside wall beside the rubbish bins when he is leaving ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Had given up potato mash because keto ( ) and tried celeriac which seemed okay, vaguely parsnippy but not potato. However, I froze a box of celeriac mash along with a layer of fried bacon for future reference, and I took it out today for lunch.
Big knob of butter, fried celeriac mash and then added the bacon, stirred it about until it resembled a kind of "hash" (no smirking at the back!) and it was actually fucking awesome, even on top of a fairly pedestrian bag-salad.

I think I finally found the cause of the intermittent charging on one of my bikes. Connector at the alternator end for the charge signal wire was slightly dodgy.
Of course, the fault being intermittent (charge light coming on, and voltage gauge showing no charging of battery occuring) means I won't know i've actually fixed the problem unless I just ride the thing and see what happens. But the condition of the wire core corrosion and the spade oxidisation makes it a strong contender for the cause. Plus- it's the charge signal wire, it should have been the first place to look, but oh well. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

Had lunch with my long-time Russian girlfriend who lives in Cyprus now, and she brought her twin sons with her.
We had pizza and icecreams at Queensway after a rambunctious lunchtime jaunt at the Princess Diana Memorial Playground.
She describes them as "feral" but really they're just used to living in outdoorsy Cyprus, not stuffy old London.
Somehow we didn't get any pictures, but suffice to say after 3.5 hours of feral 4 year olds, I was ready to take my box of half-eaten pizza and get on the train home ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Anyone else use this window stuff? |
I have the reflective film on my office window, which is south facing. It's surprisingly effective. Pre-film I had to leave the room about 1530 in the middle of summer, now I can last until about 1700.
However, pain in the arse to apply without wrinkles, quite a thick film, and looking through it from the inside everything is slightly distorted, like an old window.
Still, the benefits outweigh the negatives. It cost me 30 quid, 2 years ago, and is still up. |
I must admit, I did get a wierd moisture build up which distorted the view outside a bit but after a little research it turns out to be a fairly common occurrence.
Managed to eventually force out the tiny pockets of fluid with the edge of a plastic credit card so that now things are perfectly clear. |

Memorial service for a cousin.
Yes it's sad that someone died (she was 81) but the amount of family that turned up... including Ian who now likes to be referred to as "Pink" (they live in California.) It was delightful how delicately ppl danced around the topic ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

The thing is, ADHD has to be disagnosed by a specialist and the drugs for it are controlled so its a high bar to get them, unlike the drugs for anxiety (SSRIs) which seem to be given out like sweeties so I suspect you are talking bollocks again. |
Fair enough it's only anecdotal evidence. People being vocal about ADHD - quite a few. People talking about the ongoing problem with specific prescription medicines - a tiny fraction. My conclusion, from what you're saying, a proper ADHD diagnosis is aspirational for some people. Bearing in mind the largest increase in recent years is 10~15yo age group I'm suspicious of adults banging on about.
Regardless, from DSM5:
- Frequently overlooks details or makes careless mistakes
- Often has difficulty maintaining focus on one task...
- Often appears not to be listening when spoken to...
- Frequently does not finish following instructions...
- Often struggles to organise tasks and activities...
- Is frequently reluctant to engage in tasks which require sustained attention
- Frequently loses items required for tasks and activities
- Is frequently easily distracted by extraneous stimuli...
- Often forgets daily activities...
I only need 5 in the "inattention" category so apparently I have ADHD... when the wife is talking at me. ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |
