I have just got back from a course at the Nurburgring and managed to cover 460 miles on the track in just 2 days.
The best thing about it was out of 150 people on the course only 5 were British and we were the ONLY group not to be passed on the track.
If anyone is thinking of going do it. It is the best bit of tarmac on the planet.

For all of you who are planning a trip to the "Ring" or who have been there before, here are some helpful info at this site:
https://www.nurburgring.org.uk/index.html
There's loads of info for beginners, all the costs, details and photos of each corner(about 73) and unfortunately... ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
I'm there in September to see what my R1 is capable of.
Hope the weather's gonna be nice and ny thou.
Enjoy....! |

Don't forget that price is for the normal free for all laps.
With the track closed to everyone else and instruction for 150 people for 2 days that aint going to be cheap but well worth it in my opinion. The 'ring is an outstanding piece of road but you need to keep one eye on your mirrors on a normal lap so to have it closed to everyone except those on the course must be great ____________________ Nothing gets the point across quite like a raised middle digit.

It cost just over £600 with accomidation for 3 nights, food and instruction.
A 25 lap ticket is 300 euro's and a single lap is 15 euro's so I think £600 is quite good value.
I have only done 1 other trackday before but with the instruction given that was not really a problem.
The other brits on the course all know the instructor and were asked if they wanted a place.
We were not timing ourselves as this is not really the aim of the course but my mate did on one lap and lets just say that Clarkson would need a faster car.

I think G's next task should be to take the R6 around the ring and see what time he gets.
Hands up.

With the 'ring you tend to learn it in sections as it's so big then put them togeather,i watched loads of video laps beforehand to have a good idea of where it went and what was coming up next paying particular attention to the nost dangerous bits.
G, As far as riding at 100%,the 'ring has very little run off so there is no room for error at many places especially at some of the faster sections. For me the 'ring is so different to short circuits because of the length and layout there is nothing to match it. I find short circuits tend to get a bit sterile and i tend to loose the impression of speed. Silverstone is a very good example of this, which is good if you're trying to push yourself to go faster but a different attitude altogether from riding at the 'ring where you're very aware of how fast you're going.
As VTR said the only way to know is to go there...fancy a trip ____________________ Nothing gets the point across quite like a raised middle digit.

Think I have just about mastered it on the Playstation, so might stand a right wee crack at it.
Know of a boy who done it on GT4 in 4.59.
Definately wouldn't mind going but there would be a lot of nutters. ____________________ Northern Irish? www.nibikers.com |
