I emailed the question over what would be the required legal proof of restriction for a 33bhp restricted bike to the West Yorkshire Police.

There reply is below.

Quote:
Sickpup,

As the law stands at present it does not require any proof that a
motorcycle is restricted. Some manufacturers (such as Kawasaki) do supply
certificates.

Regards

PNLD@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk

Hope this clears up some misconceptions.

And I have just emailed FI international asking on what legal basis their certificates prove a bike is restricted in light of this reply.

Wonder if they'll reply?

Their certificates hold no legal grounds as such and as you've found out you don't legally need a certificate, BUT most insures will want a certificate and the most acceptable certificate is a FI cert.. that's the reasoning behind them..

I already knew they have no legal grounds.

I already know the arguments for and against in fact I already know the law. I also know most insurers don't want the certificate its the brokers who do and they have no legal basis to request one.
