The best advice I had was to not let the clutch completly out until you are moving at something like 10mph - this makes it easy to get the hang of clutch control, let it out tiny amounts at a time whilst keeping the throttle constant, until you are moving at that speed.

Remember the clutch is not a switch, it has to be feathered out, not just dumped.

Get the hang of letting the clutch out until it 'bites'. Start with doing this with no throttle. Feel the bike pulling forward. You should be able to let the bike ride forward with no throttle or brakes. Now, start again with the clutch fully in, get the revs up a little. If you have a tach, settle at around 2000/2500 and slowly let the clutch out till it reaches that 'bite' point again. Now let the clutch out a little more and get the bike moving. Once you are moving you can slowly let the clutch out little by little.

Practice is all you need. When I did my CBT I stalled about 9 or 10 times during the training and once on the road (hill start on traffic lights! - still, the SR-125 has an electric starter, so just put on the rear brake, pulled in the clutch and started much to the annoyance of the other drivers Embarassed )

The more time you spend playing with launching at low revs on the clutch the easier and smoother you get... Bet the first thing I do when I finally get my hands back on a bike this week - is stall on the launch Crying or Very sad

I stalled mine at the lights on my cbt!

The other riders rode off and left me, so I did a double lifesaver over both shoulders and moved to the side of the road where I started up and waited. The range rover behind let me out because the lights were red and allowed me to go in front of him, I put my hand up and when the lights were green I accelerated and tried to catch up with the other 2!

As these guys have said, keep playing with the biting point of the clutch for a while until you feel confident, then try and move off with the revs slightly higher, don't worry, the cbt isn't too hard, good luck though mate!

Providing you have your CBT, your Insurance and a 'booked' MOT you are pemitted to drive the vehicle to the MOT test centre, and back again. Then you must get your Tax before going onto the road again.

Just ensure that you book the test, and if you can, get a booking card or recept, just incase the remote happens and you get pulled. Providing you have that booked MOT, there is no problems, as long as you ride directly there, and directly back.

Good luck with the CBT.

Yeah you will be fine riding to the MoT as long as it is booked in.

One thing though, if the bike is in a real state and there is no chance that it will pass, then I can't see you getting away with it. Make sure that you check that the bike is relatively road safe and that it is clean etc. Good luck! Thumbs Up
