"The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare"
(Guy Ritchie) - Amazon Prime.

Something about hijacking a boat, its set in the 2nd World War - and includes another ghastly but mesmerising Nazi (Til Schweiger)
No Vinnie Jones this time, but Henry Cavill is fairly rakish as are all of his merry band of reprobates, so its still a jolly good wheeze and a gung-ho romp nonetheless.

The Shining.

I liked it, but I feel the same about it as others do if you're one of those who have read the book..

I don't know what it was I was watching or reading but the trigger word was "submarines"

Das Boot (1981)

Still an amazing movie.

Sweet Charity (1969)

Watching films this old are akin to motion picture archaeology. If the title doesn't ring a bell some of the songs will: Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now and The Rhythm of Life are the standout numbers.

Why is it old musicals more bearable, maybe even naively charming, compared to the modern day stuff? Fuck Hitler, if I had a time machine I'd go back and erase Andrew Lloyd-Webber Wink

The Union (2024)

Despite the European backdrop this is unashamedly a big, fat American cheeseburger... with extra cheese Neutral

For some reason Netflix has tagged this as "comedy action" but apart from a few sarcastic lines here and there the rest is a load of cold blooded killing and car chases.

One for Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg fans.

At the weekend I watched Breakin' and I'm currently watching Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo

They are both insane. I don't recommend the first, it's got some fun dancing but the rest is awful. Breakin' 2 is definitely into "so bad it's good" territory. The dancing is better, the characters spontaneously burst into musical numbers unlike the first where they try to make it organic and there is a hospital scene that is totally bugnuts. The pinnacle though involves dancing on a rotating set...

If you want a laugh on a Sunday afternoon, watch it.

Simultaneously 1 out of 5 and 5 out of 5.

Trap (2024)

Based on a real-life fake concert 'sting' operation. Wife enjoyed it.

Interesting point of view on how a psychopath sees themself.

6.5/10

Actually not really any significant twists in it. He gets his daughter/niece in it though for a bit of nepo.

Harry Brown is really good.
I wasn't expecting much of it but in the end it was excellent.

Plan B (Ben Drew) does an excellent line in chav scumbags (unsurprisingly), and Michael Caine was believable as a frail old man instead of the crotchety old git he usually plays (although these days he really is a frail old man, bless)

I watched the modern (ish, 2017) remake of CHIPS with Michael Peña in it the other night, fully expecting it to be rubbish. Landed up nearly falling off the sofa laughing. I mean it was childish and unbelievable but the comedy timing was brilliant.

After reading your thoughts on it I decided to watch it Thumbs Up

Utter shite, couple of good sequences showing the skill of the riders, but 'nearly fell off the sofa laughing' ... must've missed that bit Laughing
