That's pretty incredible. I haven't watched the video yet, but I read the articles on Gamespy. The most amazing thing is that he seems to have created a whole new way to produce games; in that they don't design as many possibilities as practical, but rather created a program which will create the design after the player has decided what it is.

Also the scale of the thing is ludicrous. Just stunning. Exploring almost every level of life in the entire universe.

I imagine this thing's going to need some fairly serious computing power behind it. Might need to get a gaming PC for the 4th quarter of 2006! Mr. Green

Yeah the bloke was saying that alot of things were running on the same script, but just with different parameters input by the player, though the level of computing power that was going on looked pretty nuts.

Yeah supposed to be out end of this year, though I reckon its gunna be pretty hefty on processor power, if u watcht he vid even his comp (which i imagine is pretty impressive) was chugging a bit at some points, though its prolly just a beta version so they probably make it a bit more hardware friendly, who knows.

The scope looks massive considering the online possibilities.
Cant wait to get it and go nuts.

You can play the full game of the 2d version somewhere, Toby R posted it a few years back, very relaxing & is actually pretty fun building the creature up.

got lucky with one of the local papers giving away the full copy of creature creator over the weekend plus a $15 discount on ordering the game itself.
Even just the creator is heaps of fun and quite addictive .

It is for PC/MAC. A limited edition for the DS and a version for the iPhone.

Comes out 4th September I think.

I've been hearing about this game for the last 5 years or so,
it's taken ages to get it finished because everyone keeps taking it on and off production,
I'm glad Maxis finally took it to the finishing line. Even the Creature Creator is worth a fiddle with. Looks like my girlfriend may get annoyed at me for bikes and computers now :p

I was reading a review about this a few months ago, and it certainly seems like it has been watered down a lot since initial inception by maxis, and looks fairly 'kiddy'.

Been reading about the popularity of designing penis shaped species, and how hilarious it will be being invaded by the superior bollock dragging race and having your arse whupped.

Will certainly be interesting upon release.
