Hi all, new member here, looking for some help please.
Just bought a 2005 CG 125 ES model I believe. Made in Brazil. I bought it as a non runner for a project. 1 previous owner and 10,000 miles. Been stood for last 15 years.
Cleaned the carb out cleared jets etc.
Fitted new spark plug.
Changed the engine oil.
Used fresh fuel via auxiliary fuel tank. (E10 grade though)
New battery.
When I tried to start it for the first time, it fired into life and was running pretty much straight away, happy days……. Or so I thought.
Left bike idling for about 5 minutes running like a sewing machine. Lovely and quiet. No strange noises.
Decided to turn the engine off to start other jobs, but before I thought I would give it a few more revs to check it revved cleanly. I’m guessing it was rev’d up to 3 thousand rpm ish (no rev counter) then bike then just died. Like it ran out of fuel, which it hadn’t.
Since then I cannot get the bike to run.
Checked the following:
Carb all ok
Spark on plug ok
Doesn’t appear to be getting fuel in cylinder. Plug dry. Tried to get it to run with easy start, no joy, even directly into back of carb and then into inlet port after removing the carb. Doesn’t even try to fire for a second.
Removed cylinder head cover and checked valve operation and clearances when at TDC all ok.
Appears to have good compression but I haven’t checked as I don’t have a tester.
Removed exhaust and tried to start without it in case of blockage, still nothing.
What am I missing here? Could the timing be out? Doesn’t explain why the plug is completely dry, you would expect it to be wet with fuel.
Any help would be appreciated? |
