Cleaning an offroader than you've caned through a muddy swamp!
Now, I thought that cleaning my road bike was a pain in the arse but this takes the biscuit. There was mud stuck in places I didn't know existed!
On a more serious note, I saw two blokes last week jetwashing their bikes at a local garage. They were muddy offroad bikes and were obviously on their way back home. Now, I've always considered it a bit of a no-no to use a jetwash on bikes - placing pressurised water near an engine surely has the capacity for causing problems?
Can it be done safely? How? Just very carefully, avoding the engine and concentrating on wheels, bodywork etc? |

It aint really powerful enough to cause problems on the engine. I usually use it to rinse off after a good soaping. They dont give a good finish, but it defo gets rid of a lot of the mud!
Make sure you avoid bearings, and dont spray it into the exhaust and you will be fine! ____________________ 05 ZX10R, (**05 WKR) |

I used to jet wash my motocross bikes, just don't blast stuff like bearings, radiators electrics etc. Never did it any harm. ____________________ ?It?s mercy, compassion, and forgiveness I lack?not rationality.? |

Thing with MX/offroaders etc is that they generally need a lot more maintenance than a normal road bike, so it's fine to jet wash them as you check stuff more often and meant to look after it more etc. Just stay away from bearings/chain etc and it's fine. I jet wash my KTM and now I have my own jet wash instead of garage ones, I jet wash all bikes/cars. It's fine as long as you don't aim it at anything that can be destroyed/de-lubed
To be honest I don't really know anyone stupid enough to not use a pressure washer on off road bikes would take AGES with a bucket and sponge and still not get clean, and you'd get really mucky
Takes 5 mins with a pressure washer ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

Heavy rain stops my bike dead, never mind a jet wash!!
